For the inaugural project of the BTM Cares initiative, we are partnering with Mission of Hope, a Christian missions organization providing a variety of services and support to the people of Haiti.
March 9 to March 17, 2019
After looking at a number of charitable organizations working in Haiti, we decided to partner with Mission of Hope because of their commitment to transforming lives in Haiti and we’re looking forward to supporting their programs that help the Haitian people. You can visit the Mission of Hope website to get more information on their mission and programs. https://mohhaiti.org/
The people of Haiti are over the top excited that we are bringing 40 black, brown, and beige faces to serve the people. The overwhelming majority of the volunteers providing services to Haiti are usually Caucasian.
Medical Volunteers/Who can serve?
We are looking for licensed medical professionals – MD, DO, PA, NP, RN, LPN, LVN, EMT, paramedics, CNA, RPh, PharmD, optometrists, dentists, PT and OT personnel, and chiropractors.
All medical personnel will function according to their North American scope of practice. This includes prescribing medication, performing procedures, and treating patients.
At the close of the registration period, the BTM Cares Program Director will follow up with all volunteers to complete the credential and background check requirements. Please add firstname.lastname@example.org to your safe-senders email list.
Non-Medical Volunteers/Who can serve?
We are also looking for a group of non-medical volunteers to provide community service and support across a variety of programs and activities. If you are healthy, happy, intelligent, and have the heart to serve, we welcome you.
Our goal is to get 20 medical professionals and 20 general volunteers for a variety of other service projects.
The projects are described as follows:
The accommodations for the service leg of the trip will be at the Mission of Hope campus. The accommodations are clean, comfortable, and secure. They are not 4-star hotel accommodations. Afterwards we will enjoy 4-star accommodations at the Wahoo Bay Beach Club.
The BTM Team is humbled and absolutely delighted to launch the BTM Cares Service Project. We look forward to an amazing future providing much-needed services and support to people of color around the world. We hope that you will join and support this initiative.
At the conclusion of our service project, we will enjoy 3 days and nights at the Wahoo Bay Beach Resort in Haiti. We are planning a mix of tours and activities for our time at Wahoo Bay Beach Resort… or you can just chill at the beach or pool for 3 days!
Wahoo Bay is an oceanfront paradise just forty-five minutes north of Port-au-Prince, pleasantly nestled between the majestic Matheux Mountains and the Gonave Bay.
The total cost for the Service Trip to Haiti is $1,250 per person. Your registration can be secured with a $250 deposit.
Please Note: Black Travel Movement is not making a profit from this trip. This is a true service project and every dollar of your investment will go to pay for trip costs and the cost of providing services to the people of Haiti.
We have a strict limit of 40 volunteers. Registration is on a first come first served basis. You may register for a max of two volunteers.
Once your registration is confirmed, the program leader will follow up with you to collect the required documents and background check information. You can expect to receive a confirmation email from BTM Cares once the registration period has ended.
